Code of Conduct
Trainer’s Pledge
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my riders and horses ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will encourage good sportsmanship from fellow trainers, riders, officials, and parents at every lesson, horse show or other event by demonstrating good sportsmanship myself at all times.
- I understand that the top three reasons kids ride are to have fun, make new friends and learn new skills. I will encourage my riders to have fun and keep sport in its proper perspective. I understand that athletes do their best when they are emotionally healthy, so I will be positive and supportive.
- I will treat each rider as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group. I will avoid interruptions whenever possible because my students deserve my undivided attention during their lesson time.
- I will do my best to provide a safe, supportive situation for my riders.
- I will promise to review and practice the basic first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my riders and their horses.
- I will do my best to organize lessons that are fun and challenging for all my riders.
- I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play, sportsmanship and humane treatment of animals and to all my riders.
- I will use training techniques appropriate for each of the skills that I teach.
- I will make sure that invoices for services are produced and distributed in a timely manner.
